Tax season is here! QC DollarWise has provided this page to help you find the tax related information you need. Please contact us if you do not find the information you are seeking. Some important topics featured on this page include the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, and important information about Refund Anticipation Loans.
Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)
The EITC is a tax credit provided to qualifying low-to- moderate income individuals and families. Illinois and Iowa Quad City area residents who file for the credit can help to bring back potentially $2 million into their pockets and the local economy. The United Way of the Quad Cities area leads a coalition of community partners working to promote the EITC and helps to organize the various free tax filing sites.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA)
Free Tax Filing...?! It's true! The VITA Program offers free tax help to people with low-to-moderate incomes. Certified volunteers receive training to help prepare basic tax returns. VITA sites can be found at community centers, libraries, schools, shopping malls, and other central locations. Most sites also offer free electronic filing.
